Born to compete, Reece Mellish grew up in a small beach town on the Mid-North Coast of Australia surfing, boxing, and playing soccer. After several years in the Australian Army, he discovered MMA and became obsessed with it. Reece won his first amateur fight within 1 minute via submission. Being so competitive and a fast learner, Reece found MMA was the hardest individual sport to test himself, where the only weapon is disabling an opponent using what your mind can create or absorb through training. The hardest battle is in the mind. Reece has trained under such great names as Chris Haseman and Kyle Noke. He is also currently training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
A strong believer in studying nutrition, Reece has found the key to fuelling the longevity of high intensity workouts is finding your own body’s balance. Every body is different, but once you find the balance you will thrive. Reece looks forward to proudly carrying the Barbell Fury banner at his upcoming BJJ competitions. He enjoys the feeling of the unknown, and will continue to push himself into new territory.
